't even know that there is such laws that encourage outsourcing. he says that if it's true he must need a new account stand. [ laughter ] now, we know for sure it was not the real mitt romney because he seems to be doing just fine with his current accountant. >> the romney campaign fired back, quote: president obama offered no defense of his record and no vision for the future. president obama simply offered more false attacks and renewed his call for job-killing tax hikes. earlier today, the president's senior campaign advisor david axelrod said this about the debate. the president's never satisfied with his performance. he is always challenging himself. and he will review it if he wants to make changes in the next debate, he will do so. what he was satisfied with was that he went and told the american people the truth as i mentioned polls show most americans governor romney won the debate. you can see it's not even close in this cnn survey. but almost half the viewers also said the debate did not effect how they will vote in november. these overnight surveys are instant, emotional re

and sunset district. i really am appreciative of the law enforcement and community-based agencies that are here with us today. how they have really worked together to try to crack down to make sure people are aware of these scams and we can as a city kind of move forward to prevent them for the future. so this hearing is on a number of these types of scams that have happened over the past few months. they tend to target older chinese women in san francisco. since january of this year there have been a series reported. again, it is older asian or chinese women. it involves the theft of jewelry and money obtained under false pretense. nearly 50 of these cases have been reported in san francisco. it's totaled over $1.5 million of losses in cash and jewelry. many of these cases also again have taken place not only in chinatown but also sunset and richmond district. similar cases also have been reported in new york, chicago, boston and seattle. i wanted to invite up a number of the reps from our law enforcement and community agencies from the police department, san francisco district a

and the president's health care reform law. while there wasn't a knockout punch by either side, some feel the president may have been too relaxed. >> this time, he seemed just a little detached at times. didn't want to be there. >> reporter: most agree romney led the debate. and after lagging in many polls, this first match-up could give him the boost he needed. >> knowing he's behind and he needs to win. and he came in and fought that fight stylistically. i think he put the president on defense a number of times. >> reporter: now, the candidates aren't wasting any time. they're getting back on the campaign trail today. and the big next week when the vice presidential candidates go one-on-one in kentucky. live in denver, brandi hitt. back to you. >> big issues and controversies in the headlines last few weeks, never mentioned last night. >> reporter: definitely. that's what's interesting, rob and paula. you talk to the analysts. and a lot of people were waiting for president obama to bring up mitt romney's past at bain capital. and that 47% comment he made over the last couple of weeks. a

by the letter of the law on these maintenance reportes, things that could be fixed later are being asked to be fixed now, at least that's what american is saying. these delays really did start to spike after american used bankrupty court to throw out the collective bargaining agreement. >> ifill: what is the status of america's bankruptcy? >> they're reorganizing. they think the hand the pilots are playing, they don't need to get a whole lot of people on the creditor's committee, in the bankruptcy process, saying management has had its shot. the people on the creditor's committee obviously have a very vested interest in how this goes forward. if they think american's current management can't do it, and this is where us airways comes into the picture, it may not take much more of this to go on before other people on the creditor's committee start to switch and the vote comes in favor we're bringing in us airways and merge which is what the pilots and all the unions at americans want right now. >> ifill: if you're a frequent flyer on american, should you be worried at all about underlying

bold idea is never mind. >> the debate later turned to the president's health care law which romney says he will get rid of if elected. >> it cut $716 billion from medicare to pay for it. i want to put the money back in medicare. it has killed jobs. >> reporter: but the president tried to bring it back to romney's own health care law which he says is quite similar. >> governor romney did a good thing, working with democrats in the state to set up what is essentially the identical model. it hasn't destroyed jobs. >> reporter: there were a few fireworks. and fewer surprises. the candidates were very deliberate outlining their bullet points on specific policies, but at the same time, neither of them really went after each other on them. it was more like they were trying to go through a checklist. not really connecting with the voters. rob, paula. >> all right. now, obviously, the president's campaign is going to spin this. what will we be hearing from them? >> well, they were trying to focus on mitt romney, the word you kept hearing from the president's surrogates was mitt romney was t

to flagrant violations of international law. there is a charter for collective action when one member is attacked. what are the chances that nato will get involved here? >> reporter: very slim right now. when you say nato besides the uk and france who have limited capacity to help here, we're talking about america. until the next election is passed and until the next administration wants to get involved in this, we're not going to see any major nato intervention. the backing is firm. that will help bolster turkey's case and push the military back to prevent this thing from happening ever again. but we're really talking about a potential of the future over know fly zone, maybe in months time if nato decides to step forward d seize turkey once again attacked by the syrians. but for now this is very much a rhetorical response and we're going to be talking weeks and months of continued aggression by the syrians as the turkish will see it, until you see any game change like that. >> nick, thank you very much. >>> update on a troubling medical story. the meningitis outbreak in tennessee has

bash is reporting live for us thanks so. >>> the law about the economy last night and hard to know who is telling the truth. president obama would say one thing and governor romney would contradict it, especially on tax cuts. so who has the answers? i know. our chief business correspondent ali velshi is here. i've missed you! >> we spent very early mornings together and nice we both get to sleep a little more. >> exactly. >> we have heard a lot of numbers thrown around last night. tell us what they mean. >> a lot of things to do how you are going to deal with the deficit a major concerns of americans vis-a-vis taxes, who is going to do what. president obama made an allegation about mitt romney's tax plan and how it will increase the deficit. let's play that. >> governor romney's central economic plan calls for a $5 trillion tax cuts on top of the bush tax cuts another trillion dollars and trillion dollars in military spending the military hasn't asked for. >> a number of things but the $5 trillion tax cut is what romney came back to saying i will not add $5 trillion to the deficit. let
